The first step in processing sand after mining is the cleaning and grading process. The material may undergo screening and storage, but at some stage, the moisture content needs to be reduced to meet the standards required for sales or further processing. Large sand dryers can be used for dehydrating and drying high-moisture waste materials such as quartz sand, river sand, slag, and clay. They have characteristics such as low drying costs, mature technology, large reserves, simple operation, and low labor requirements.
Sand dryers, also known as three-tier rotary dryers, are industrial drying equipment developed and manufactured based on single-cylinder dryers. They are suitable for non-sticky materials and liquid materials. Sand is transported to the hopper via a belt conveyor or bucket elevator, and then delivered to the feed end by the hopper's feeder. The inclination of the feed pipe should be greater than the natural angle of repose of the material to ensure that the sand flows smoothly into the dryer. The rotating cylinder of the dryer is slightly inclined from the horizontal plane, allowing the material to enter from the higher end. As the cylinder rotates, the sand is carried by gravity to the lower side. During its forward movement, the wet raw material is heated directly or indirectly by the heat carrier, thus drying quickly. The final product is discharged via a belt conveyor or screw conveyor.
